The Details:

Date:

Saturday July 8, 2023 - Full Day 9am-4pm or if that feels like too much to commit to, choose between the morning or afternoon session.

This retreat is being held in a peaceful country setting in the outskirts of Calgary in Priddis.

In this retreat you will be led through various exercises by Jen Reddish, Registered Master Therapeutic Counsellor to help you to connect to your body and emotions through somatic experiencing and gentle interventions through expressive arts therapy. Don’t worry, no artistic skills are needed, all you need is yourself and an open mind! Jen specializes in Maternal Mental Health in her private counselling practice and has a strong passion for supporting women to connect to their authentic sense of self through body & emotional awareness. This retreat was created to give women a space to return to again and again - to give yourself an opportunity for real, deeper level self care in a safe, supportive environment. Somatic experiencing is a body-centered approach to therapy. It is an incredible way to bring your mind and body into connection, increase your awareness of your body and emotions and bring you into connection with your sense of self.

Thinking & talking only gets us so far with increasing our self-awareness and moving towards our goals. This retreat will give you an opportunity to dive deeply into your experience of yourself and expand your awareness through various exercises that allow you to access what may usually be out of reach.

Retreat will have special guest contributors Dr Brittany Wickert & Susie MacPhee to further support you in connecting to your body & sense of self.

Susie MacPhee is a Certified Athletic Therapist and has a special interest in pre and post natal health. She supports people of all ages and abilities to learn how to move more freely and effectively and get back to doing what they love. Susie will lead the group through focused breath & posture movements that encourage you to reconnect with your body. The movements will be gentle, but the work will be effective. This breath work is the key to support the participants of this retreat to become aware of how to move, heal and care for your post-partum body. This will be helpful for you whether you’ve just given birth or if you are many years post-partum! After Jen took a post-partum rehabilitation class that Susie led, Jen gained so much and knew she had to invite Susie to share her knowledge with her own clients!

Dr. Brittany Wickert, Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine & Registered Acupuncturist will bring the session to a close with a group acupuncture session (OPTIONAL). If you choose to participate, you will have the opportunity to dive even deeper into the theme of Embodied Self Connection as acupuncture focuses on restoring harmony within; emotionally, physically & mentally. This session will focus on igniting a deeper mind-body connection & will leave you feeling grounded & connected to your inner self. (Receipts will be issued for you to submit to your health insurance for reimbursement). Jen connected with Brittany several years ago through the community of peri-natal professionals in Calgary and has had Brittany contribute to her sessions in the past. It is exciting to be able to have Brittany contribute to this session on Embodied Self Connection. out

Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
